Hurricanes junior league

What a excellent display of cricket from our juniors over the past week. Last Sunday in the New Norfolk Under-15s, Bobby Nossiter and Tyson Smith put on an amazing opening stand of 176 from 33.3 overs. Bobby, making his first career 50, made 70 not out off 106 balls with 11 fours and Tyson 57 not out off 102, hitting five fours and one six. Awesome batting boys!

Congratulations to the Gretna Under-15’s who racked up their third win of the season. Congratulations to captain James Brazendale who lead from the front with a fine 60 runs retired not out, great effort.

In the Under-13s, pictured, Gretna recorded their first win of the season in a thriller against Lindisfarne at Gretna. At 8/95 and needing 122 for victory, it was left to Jack Cunningham and Jack Embrey.

The pair showing great character steered their team to victory in a very brave effort. Cunningham living up to the family tradition at the club, batted his heart out remaining 8 not out off 56 balls with one four. Embrey in his first match and the last batsman in, was a shining light for the team and remained six not out from the all important 40 deliveries.

The New Norfolk Under-13 boys registered their second win when they defeated Glenorchy by 42 runs. Angus Fraser did well making 26 not out off 43 and Benton Gray made 9 of 18. Jack Neads took 2-16 off 3. In the New Norfolk U/15 girls, Heidi Davidson made 18 not out from 12 balls and in the stage 1 team, Angel Green did well making 12 not out from 11 deliveries in the teams good 24 run win.
