THE $10 million revitalisation of two 1935 buildings within Willow Court, New Norfolk is progressing. The soon to be established state-of-the-art Health Hub is, according to Corumbene, a landmark achievement in the 60-year history of Corumbene Care.
The Federal Government has provided $3.785 million for the refurbishment, and Labor Lyons MP Brian Mitchell said the premises would be read to occupy in the second half of next year. Mr Mitchell recently visited the site to check on progress with Corumbene Care CEO Alison Standen.
He said the external building restoration had been completed and internal fitout would commence this month. “I’m looking forward to seeing the site completed and adding additional medical services in the Derwent Valley,” Mr Mitchell said.
The Corumbene project involves restoring and repurposing the Derwent and Esperance buildings. Once complete the project will support an integrated range of community health and wellbeing services. “We have been talking with stakeholders in the healthcare field to bring services to The Avenue and expand health services within the community, including enhanced GP access,’’ a spokesperson said.
