Spring a vine time for wineries

THE second year of the Spring in the Vines Festival promises to be bigger and better.

To be held on November 4-6, more than 37 vineyards across southern Tasmania including the Derwent Valley, Coal River Valley, Huon Valley, Hobart and the South East are gearing up for a spring bounce. Wine growers and wine makers in Southern Tasmania are coming together to open their doors to the public.

“This is the second year that the wine producers join forces and bring the Southern wine region to life,’’ a festival spokesperson said.

“The festival is about celebrating spring, a new vintage, a new wine cycle of life. “The event is designed to take advantage of Tasmania’s growing global reputation for premium cool climate wines, yet celebrating this fame amongst us Tasmanian’s locally.

“To help celebrate, there will be food, live music, art and other entertainment.

“This is also a unique opportunity for wine lovers from near and far to meet makers.”
