Police unveil high-tech car

A HIGH tech police car has been allocated to the Bridgewater Division, bringing sophisticated components to detect law breakers. The Skoda Sportlines wagon, pictured, is the first of its kind for Tasmania Police.

The vehicle is fitted with an automatic number plate recognition system, front and rear facing speed devices and cellular boosting to allow better computer access in remote areas. Alert systems for crash scenes and an on-board defibrillator are also on board.

Acting Inspector Jason Klug said: “The Bridgewater policing division includes areas within Brighton, Southern Midlands and Central Highland council areas and the technology in this vehicle will assist officers to detect a broader range of offences.’’
