WITH heavy hearts the Bothwell Rabbits played hard and smart in a tribute to club identity Mark “Boof’’ Shearing who died late last month. The football team convincingly defeated Campbell Town on their opponent’s home soil on Saturday. The Rabbits now go into the finals undefeated.
“You’ve done Boof proud,” was the message from fans, the club and past and present players. A club spokesperson said Boof joined the club alongside his son James in 2013 as a trainer and he soon become a valued and hardworking member of club and later a committee member.
“A great man with a heart of gold, Boof worked tirelessly for his beloved Rabbits. “Our hearts are broken. “Our deepest sympathy and love goes to Kel, James and Grace and their extended families at this very sad time.’’
At the siren on Saturday it was 4.8.32 Campbell Town and 10.17.77 Bothwell.
