THE Derwent Valley Councils photo competition is proving very popular with more than 100 entries submitted already. Photographers have until the end of August to submit an entry that encapsulates what you love about the Valley. “There’s plenty of time left to grab your camera and head out to take the potentially award-winning photo before the comp closes on August 31,” a council spokesperson said.
The competition is based around five themes.
• Bigger, Deeper, Wilder, Weirder;
• Derwent Valley Winter;
• There’s No Place Like Home;
• What The Locals Do; and
• Scenes That Inspire.
A shortlist of entries will feature in an exhibition where the public can vote for their favourite. The public votes and judges’ votes will each have a 50 per cent weighting and an overall score will determine the winner.
There will be five prizes, with the winner of each category receiving a professionally framed print of their photo.
