THE countdown is on to Agfest 2022 with tickets on sale today.
Preparations for the 40th event are in full swing ahead of the August field days and organisers remain upbeat despite a fall in exhibitor numbers.
While there is no cap on the number of patrons who can attend the event this year, ticket sales are again being held online-only to assist with tracking and tracing and crowd management. There will be no gate sales and tickets can only be purchased for each individual day with no multi-day and no family passes available.
However, with an unlimited number of tickets available, people are reminded they can purchase them on the day before leaving home. It’s hoped the online sales process will make for smoother entry to the event and ensure patrons can be easily contacted if needed.
For those without internet access or who need help to buy online, Rural Youth has partnered with Telstra Shops around the state to assist with purchasing tickets online.
Agfest chairman Caine Evans said the decision to postpone this year’s Agfest from May to August had been vindicated with the State Government lifting crowd limits. “Our committee made the brave decision to move Agfest to August to keep the event alive under difficult circumstances,” Mr Evans said. “I am pleased to say that it has paid off. We now have a 2022 event with uncapped patron numbers and an opportunity to welcome everyone back to Agfest.”
While exhibitor numbers are down on previous years, this year’s event will have a range of new features. These include an interactive program by the University of Tasmania and an expo of some of the best Tasmanian hospitality, goods and beverages. Favourites such as the heritage agricultural machinery and sheep dog trials will return along with livestock and the Agfest boat show.
Mr Evans said Agfest and Rural Youth were committed through their Covid plan to providing a safe and complaint event.
Tickets for Agfest 2022 go on sale on Friday, July 1. Agfest 2022 in the Paddock runs for four days from Wednesday, August 24, to Saturday, August 27. Gates open 8am to 4pm each day. Agfest then moves online to the Cloud on Saturday, August 27, to Friday, September 2.
