MAYDENA Bike Park played host to the 2022 Aus Cycling Mountain Bike National Championships last week, with competitors once again coming from across the world to throw themselves at the Derwent Valley terrain.
Running from Monday to Sunday, the Derwent Valley become the mecca for downhill and cross-country class bike riders, with the world’s best making their way to the sprawling bike park to test their mettle against the challenging course.

After what was a fantastic week, Ellie Smith, from the Central Coast of New South Wales, and Adelaide’s Connor Fearon were crowned champions of the Elite Downhill categories, while in the cross country, Canberra’s Bec McConnell and Sydney’s Matt Dinham took the gold medals home.

In the pump track results, Queensland’s Jayce Cunning and Canberra’s Caroline Buchanan took out the open men and women classes.
The event was another fantastic show of the growing sport and of the capabilities of Maydena Bike Park’s world-class facilities, with the hundreds of competitors drawing even more spectators to the region.
