THE SC4 Panthers hosted Barnestoneworth Golden Gordons on Sunday and when the Panthers play the Golden Gordons you know it’s going to be a superb game.
The Gordons are this year’s league premiers and regardless of it being the last game with the premiership already wrapped up they don’t go easy, but neither do the Panthers.
Martin Cairns was on fire and found the back of the net within 10 minutes for his first goal – the only goal scored in the first half.
Going into the second half the game was a treat to watch for the mass of supporters with both sides playing to their absolute best.
The Panthers had the edge on the day though and with our defence refusing to back down, our midfield could switch the ball around the field and present it to our forwards.
Ryan Emery scored in the 60th minute followed by another Martin Cairns goal 15 minutes later, which sealed a thrilling win for the Panthers.
It’s been a great season for the Panthers finishing third on the ladder behind class sides Barnestoneworth and Olympia in our first year playing up a level and with not too many injuries. Next season looks very exciting.
The roster season may be over but it’s not the end of Panther games just yet.
We travel to Launceston to take on the Northern Rangers in the semi finals of the Tas Champions League on September 4.
This is the second time we have travelled north to participate in this inaugural statewide competition and if anyone would like to sponsor the trip they would be more than welcome.
